Past September marked my ten-year employment at Betabit. And it has been one wild ride! I’ve been blessed to be able to do some awesome things like helping customers make the transition to the cloud, organizing the internal Hack Yourself First workshop by Troy Hunt, speaking at conferences internationally, becoming a Microsoft Azure MVP, recording the Betatalks videos and most recently Betatalks the Podcast with lots of great guests, among who Scott Hanselman!
Besides all of these achievements we’ve also known less fortunate times, like when my wife fell very ill (she’s fine now 🙏🏻) and when a herniated disc incapacitated me for several months (I’m fine now, too 🙏🏻).
Through all of these times, both happy and sad, the great people at Betabit always had my back, supported me. This was the reason why the choice I’ve made was a tough one to make. Still I did make the choice to challenge myself by switching gears:
On January 1st I will be joining Microsoft as a Digital Cloud Solution Architect.
Although naming people opens up the possibility of forgetting someone, I would really like to take this opportunity to explicitly thank the founders of Betabit: Luc & Olav, the person who introduced me to the company and who I have worked with a lot: Sjoerd and of course my partner in crime for lots of the awesome things I have been able to do: Oscar. Next to this, thank you to everyone who I haven’t mentioned explicitly for the great time we’ve spent together. You are all awesome.
And of course: it’s a small world, I’m sure we’ll meet again. 🤗
