Migrated to Hugo
- 2 minutes read - 240 wordsWay back when I started blogging, I started out with Blogger. The use of that didn’t last long, because I was contacted by a colleague at the time to move over to BloggingAbout.net, which I did. They ran Community Server for over nine (9!) years before switching over to WordPress.
Later, I migrated my blog to be part of my personal website. With everything in WordPress already, the easiest route was to use WordPress for my personal website as well since migrating would be easy.
The times they are a-changin'
There are several reasons for me to change from WordPress to Hugo. First of all, I had a LOT of email being sent through a vulnerable module in my website. Second, WordPress seems to be getting a bit too much for my specific needs. I only add new blog posts every now and again and I do some minor changes to my pages.
Also: static sites rule, baby 🤓
The biggest downside for switching? I have 300+ posts on my blog, and the export I ran doesn’t export all the information correctly, so I’m now manually migrating all those blogposts over…
What do you think?
Although there’s quite some plugins that I’m losing with the switch, I think I can add their functionality to my Hugo site manually. I’m really curios what you think about this new version of the website.
